Digital Still Life with Flowers

Here is a digital still life painting I did today featuring three flowers from our garden we had placed in a small oddly-shaped crystal vase as my subject. Rather than attending to true perspective, I thought it would be fun to use the colorful, striped table cloth in a more decorative manner. Together with the shifting afternoon light, the busyness of the motif posed an interesting but fun challenge for me to pull off successfully. Certainly looking at my final, piece, there certainly are a number of things I wish I had done differently but I’m not unhappy with the result given that doing floral still lifes is fairly new territory for me. Perhaps I can use the lessons learned and try another attempt at this same basic idea again in the future.

Your comments, critiques and suggestions are all welcome.

Note: for those of you interested in the technical details, I painted this on my iPad using the ArtStudio app. I first painted the table cloth on one layer, followed by the flowers and crystal vase in a second layer. Then I added a final layer in which I applied a graduated shadow to help, reinforce the direction of the light source.
